Communication is Key

Love can be a tricky game to play, and the stakes are high as sometimes broken hearts abound. But romance won’t give you the runaround when you can see what’s key, and that’s communication. Yes, the lessons of love may just come down to communicating clearly, and that holds true of just about any relationship, here are two reasons why.

We don’t like games. Although many of us still play them, none of us particularly like them, and when it comes right down to it, games are for children. Avoiding games and signaling intent early on saves a lot of drama down the road. Open communication is essential when letting your partner know what you want, and it takes a certain amount of honesty, both with your partner and with yourself.

Our minds wonder, and often worry. We live in an age of nearly non-stop stimulation. Many of us are glued to our phones, constantly refreshing our Facebook feeds or tweets. Some bemoan it while others call it evolution, but good or bad the fundamental fact is that social media has changed the way our brains work, and we’ve become less patient. Communication may not be needed on an hourly basis, but many of us like it to be constant, as long stretches of radio silence may lead us to wonder the reasons why, and that often leads to worry.
